Bepanthen Protects Challenge

Like most babies at some point, Lake occasionally suffers from nappy rash. So obviously as a Mumma, Im going to do everything I can to try and prevent this from happening. This is why I have decided to take part in the #BepanthenProtects Challenge.

It seems crazy to me now, but previously I only used nappy rash cream to try and treat nappy rash once it had occurred, but I have since come to realise this is not the point. Bepanthen is about protecting your babies skin from nappy rash and if I'm totally honest, (and this is were I feel silly) it never struck to me to try and prevent it. I mean, us Mums have a million and one things to think about every second of the day, so it is easy to sometimes miss the obvious! So, if I can prevent nappy rash, this is definitely something I will be doing!

This is why we have been using Bepanthen at every nappy change and this is something I will 100% continue! I have made it part of our routine and I am all about routine when it comes to babies. Lake is 16 months old now so our routine is vital. She has a real understanding of it now, she knows what we do and when. She knows her morning routine, she knows her bedtime routine and she knows her bath time and nappy changing routine, all of which, now include Bepanthen!

At nappy changing time, I'll say to her 'Shall we change your bum?' and with the biggest toothy grin she will pull out the changing mat from under the couch and lie down ready, feet in the air. It really is the cutest. She knows how we wipe, how we dry and now how we apply cream! You literally only need a thin layer, and it's none sticky too which is a added bonus, especially when your out and about! It forms a transparent layer, and most importantly it's breathable! I think its so important for the skin to breath and our morning nappy change, includes a period of nappy free time for this reason.
We have been incorporating and using Bepanthen in our routine for a few weeks now, and I have really noticed at difference. I guess most Mums will know about how about nappy rash can be mild to severe, and although she has in the past, Lake rarely suffers from severe cases but she does often get a bit of a sore bum. Honestly, I have noticed no redness or no soreness since we have been using Bepanthen. I really feel it has helped.

When writing these kind of posts, I like to keep them as personal to us as possible and I tend not to add lots of technical jargon. However I did want to point out a few things that I think are really important, and definitely worth mentioning as I'm always so careful about what I put on Lake sensitive skin. Babies skin is thinner and softer than ours, so can get irritated more easily. Bepanthen is clinically proven and contains no colours, preservatives, fragrances, parabens or antiseptics. It contains Provitamin B5 to help the skin repair its natural protective barrier.
